Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko should shoulder blame over tribulations facing the county executive leadership in the City Hall because of mistakes of his own making.
The governor frustrated his former deputy Polycarp Igathe until he quitted after he (Mike Sonko) failed to involve him in decision making over matters concerning the composition of the executive.
Sonko wanted to call the shots in the City Hall while turning his deputy into a mere errand boy.
Four months later after the resignation of Igathe, the city boss nominated his fierce critic and former rival Miguna Miguna.
He made the move knowing very well that Miguna was not in good terms with him and the national government.
The Senate and Miguna himself rejected the nomination.
He went further to shortlist four female candidates for the position but since then he has appointed none of them.
His laxity in filling the position of the deputy governor has led to the emergence of a leadership vacuum in the City Hall after being charged in court and barred from accessing his office.
Further, Sonko is reluctant to fill the positions of county executives left by some who resigned and others who were removed.
This could paralyse service delivery.
