Safaricom Chie Executive Officer (CEO) Bob Collymore was on Monday announced dead by the company's management through an official statement released and signed by its chairman Nicholas Nganga.
Today, family, friends and relatives of the late Bob are meeting at All Saint Cathedral in Nairobi for a memorial service a day after he was cremated at Kariakor Crematorium.
Among those who attended is Deputy President William Ruto who said Bob despite the fact that he had no University Degree, he managed the highly profitable company to his level best.
Ruto remembers the day when the Kenyan government through the Education ministry was under reforms to respond on the need of technical education where Bob became a source of inspiration since he was effectively leading Safaricom without a degree.
"Bob became a source of inspiration because he had no degree but ran the most profitable enterprise in Kenya." Said DP.
The new curriculum has been rolled and undergoing piloting to the programme to ensure its effectiveness. The education system will put the effort into ensuring talents and technical education and skills is adhered to.
