Education cabinet secretary Professor Magoha has shared with an audience at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) a life-affirming message.
Speaking during an event that saw students from poor backgrounds issued with bursaries, the tough-talking CS said that giving back to the poor in the society was the most fulfilling thing in his life.He said, that unlike many people in today's capitalistic world, he does not feel fulfilled by money."This is the most transformative day of my life. I feel fulfilled; giving back to the poor who otherwise would not have gotten an opportunity. Money does not fulfil me. If I cannot have an impact on a poor child, then what the hell I’m I here for?, " Prof Magoha said.
He went on to appeal to his audience not to dwell too much on material things but focus on touching the lives of the poor and the disadvantaged in the society, saying that vanity was meaningless as we will all die.
According to the cabinet secretary, a total of 30,000 learners who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) had applied for the Elimu Scholarship that had benefitted a total of 9,000 students, according to a tweet by the Ministry of Education.Successful applicants will now have their secondary education funded by the scholarship.
