With the fate of President Uhuru Kenyatta after the 2022 general election remaining a major political subject in the country, Central Organization of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli insists that the President is going nowhere.
While speaking at his Kajiado home where he delivered his new year message to Kenyans, Atwoli said that President Kenyatta will come back to power after the 2022 poll, albeit in a different capacity.
"The only thing that the President can't do is to run for presidency, bit under the new political dispensation envisaged by the BBI team, we anticipate new political formations that will be all-encompassing and inclusive," Atwoli said as quoted by the Standard.
The subject of Kenyatta remaining in power post 2022 has in the past few months elicited mixed reactions within the political circles.
Just a few days ago, former Jubilee Party Vice Chairman and key ally of the President, David Murathe claimed that Kenyatta will be going for the Prime Minister position in the next general election.
However, in a quick response to the former Gatanga MP's claim, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, said that the head of state is not interested in such an arrangement after the end of his term as President.
