Political analyst Mark Bichachi has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to stamp his authority in the party amid the alleged fallout between him and his deputy William Ruto.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Bichachi said that the head of state needs to radical to some extent.
He argued that the leaders were planning to hold parallel rallies because they are out to compete with each other.
"We cannot purport to say that we want strong political parties but political party leaders act as if they exist in a vacuum. Pres. Uhuru has to be able to tell his people when they are out of line. Holding a parallel rally is to say you are competing," he said.
Bichachi argued that the President has not blocked anyone from holding public meetings. He opined that one can do anything as long as he or she is within the constitution of this nation.
"Pres. Kenyatta telling leaders that holding parallel rallies is equal to curtailing freedom of speech is not true, he has not stopped them from doing what they do elsewhere. No one has gotten into trouble for having a different opinion," he said.
The analyst noted that he has never come across persons who have been opposed to BBI report and wondered why Uhuru is yet to condemn the shooting of civilians at Kasarani when they wanted the government to construct for them roads.
