Former State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi  has hailed Chief Justice David Maraga over the push for the digitalization of the Judiciary.

In a tweet on Thursday, Itumbi said that the move will transform the Judicial system in different once it has been adopted. He congratulated Maraga for rooting for the use of technology to ensure cases are heard in time.

“Absolutely refreshing to read that CJ @dkmaraga is championing and almost rolling out the digitizationmof the Judiciary. That will be quite the legacy sir, I salute You! Push, make it happen, let it at the very minimum start! The impact will be serious,” he said.

Speaking during the opening of the 2019 annual judges’ colloquium at a Mombasa hotel on Monday, Maraga said that the Judiciary is committed to ensuring the technology is used to clear the backlog of cases at the courtroom. 

He said that the digital aspects will make the cases run faster as compared to the current situation. He also asked other stakeholders to back the JSC in the fight to ensure cases are heard and determined on time.

“We will continue to vigorously pursue other elements of digitisation such as replacing the archaic time-consuming tradition of handwritten notes with digital court recording and transcription system beginning with 32 court rooms around the country” said Justice Maraga.
