Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu on Monday lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta after nominating the National Land Commission (NLC) board members.
He appreciated him for appointing former Nyeri Town MP Esther Murugi into the NLC board.
"Asante sana Your Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta for nominating our very own and Nyeri Town former Member of Parliament Hon Esther Murugi Mathenge to the Board of the National Land Commission," he said.
President Uhuru also nominated Nairobi lawyer Gershom Otachi as the chairperson of National Land Commission (NLC).
The head of state also nominated eight others who include; former Labour CS Kazungu Kambi, Prof James K. Tuitoek, Getrude Nduku Nguku, Reginald Okumu, Hubbie Hussein Al-Haji, Alister Murimi Mutugi and former Isiolo Woman Representative Tiya Galgalo.
The fate of the commission now lies with the National Assembly's Lands Committee.
If approved, Dr Muhammad Swazuri who ended his term in February.
Speaker Justin Muturi of the National Assembly confirmed receiving a letter with the names of the nominated members of the NLC.
“Standing Order 45 requires that upon receipt of notification of nomination for appointments such nominations shall stand committed to the relevant departmental committee,” said Muturi.
