Residents at Kangemi in Westlands Constituency on Thursday took to the streets to protest against the recruitment of census officials.
The residents who came out in numbers termed the selection process as flawed.
Angry residents stormed the census enumerators training centre in Kihumbuini primary school in Kangemi, Nairobi County.
However, they were dispersed by police officers who launched teargas canisters towards them.
They claimed that most of the selected officials were from the Eastlands.
Westlands Member of Parliament Tim Wanyonyi came out o add his voice on this issue. He noted that the training process will not continue until this case is checked and corrected.
Not long ago, 5 residents in Homa Bay County took their issues to the court.
The 5 wanted the court to stop the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) from carrying out the planned August 24 and 25 census exercise in the county.
The 5; Daniel Otieno Onyango, Evance Oloo, John Okambo, Antony Gaya and Michael Otieno accused KNBS of hiring people who had not applied for the census jobs.
More so, they noted that those selected serve in different positions as public servants.
This years' census exercise will make use of technology.
A total of 174,700 people will be hired for this exercises.
