15-year-old girl Sofia Joseph had attended a celebration that was meant for 'girls circumcision' before her aunt reportedly fatally beat her up to death.

Police who have already arrested the woman, have launched investigations to find out what triggered her to beat up the girl to death.

Linet Ghati, the girl circumcision party organizer, said the deceased was on Monday a happy girl and was astonished to learn about her abrupt death .

“Yesterday [Monday, October 21], she was full of life — bubbly and happy. I am shocked that today [Tuesday, October 22], she is no more,” Ghati said as quoted by K24 Digital.

It was alleged the woman killed the girl after accusing her of sneaking out of the house at night to attend the party.

Migori police boss Joseph Nthenge while confirming the killing of the schoolgirl, said the suspected woman is being held at Kehancha Police Station.

This comes after another case in Nyamira County where a secondary schoolboy who was set to sit this years' Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams committed suicide after he was allegedly warned against coming home late by his parents.
