Light has been thrown on how Philip Songoti, a Nairobi resident who aspires to be Governor Sonko's deputy, raised money to place an advert in one of the local dailies to express his interest.
K24 Television reported Wednesday that Mr Songoti raised the money, 106,000 shillings, from family members.
"Friends and family helped him raise 106,000 shillings to put up the advert," the Media Max-owned television station reported.
It appears that the cash was wasted cash as Mike Sonko said in no uncertain terms that he would not give Songoti the job he believes he has the skills set to do.
The flamboyant governor says he is keen on having a woman as his deputy.
Philip Songoti said in the advert that his experience in public service put him in good stead as the county's next deputy governor.
The position has been vacant since 2018 after the dramatic resignation of the then deputy governor Polycarp Igathe.
Governor Sonko has been in no haste to find a replacement to Polycarp Igathe.
Experts had warned of a possible constitutional crisis should the governor step aside, resign or be impeached.
The constitution stipulates that the deputy governor takes over after in the event of the absence of the governor for whatever reason.
