Ijara Member of Parliament Sophia Abdi Noor has congratulated Mohammed Islam alias Madobe on his disputed re-election as the president of Jubaland State of Somalia.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, Abdi Noor said that her congratulatory message was on behalf of the people of Ijara.
She wished Madobe success as he embarked on the challenging task of dispensing presidential duties.
"On behalf of people of Ijara, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to his excellency Mohammed Islam Alias Madobe on his re-election as president of Jubaland state Somalia I thank the people of Jubaland for holding a peaceful election I wish his excellency Mohammed Islam Alias Madobe succes as he discharges his freshman dendate Insha Allah, " her Facebook post read.
Madobe was sworn in on Friday as president even as his closest rival also took the oath of office in a move that is bound to escalate tensions.
He faces an uphill task of uniting the people who are divided by politics and dealing with the threat that Al-Shabaab poses.
"We want to work with neighbouring countries on security. We will work with anyone to maintain the stability and development of the region. We want to work with them in the fight against al-Shabab, " Madobe was quoted by Aljazeera.
