Leaders from Jubilee and ODM parties supporting handshake on Wednesday met several community groups in Kibra where they publicized Imran Okoth's agenda and sought support from him.
In a tweet, ODM party said the handshake team held a number of gatherings in Kibra to canvass support for Imran who is vying on the party ticket.
The party further argued that Imran's candidature has been receiving a boost as days go by.
"Jubilee and ODM youth calling themselves Team Handshake held a series of meetings in Kibra today to marshal up support for Bernard Otieno Okoth. They met various groups of people where they sold Imran’s agenda for Kibra. Imran’s journey to Parliament is gaining momentum," read the tweet.
The handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga in March 2018 led to splitting and regrouping of Jubilee leaders into factions, one in support of the idea, while the other thrashing it.
Majority of the Jubilee leaders supporting the handshake like nominated MP Maina Kamanda and former Nairobi Woman Representative Rachael Shebesh among others are behind the ODM candidate despite Jubilee having their own candidate in the by-election.
The anti-handshake group are campaigning for their candidate MacDonald Mariga in the mini poll slated for November 7.
