Residents of Muthesya location in 2014, formed the 4M Sand Harvesting Society and elected four officials to oversee the money collected from the Lorries coming to buy sand from Misuuni village in the same location.

Speaking in his office on Tuesday, Muthesya location senior chief  Musyoka Wambua, confirmed that the members had launched complaints to him.

“Members of 4M society yesterday presented to me their dissatisfactions with the officials who they accuse have not presented a report of the money collected from sand buyers for the last year therefore they want a meeting to be addressed on the funds collected so far,” said Wambua.

According to peter Munywoki, one of the Members of the harvesting society he stated that no money had been disbudded from the officials’ treasury.

“It has been a year and we are having a problem with the officials who have been collecting money from the buyers. The conditions we laid down were to collect the money so that it will help with developments in our location but no money has been released yet,” said Munywoki.

He further cited that 50% of what is collected is supposed to be for the boosting development in Muthesya while the rest 50% is to be divided against the members in equal shares.

However, the chief advised the members to present a formal memorandum of their complaints to the chairman of cooperatives in Yatta Sub-County so that the officials can be summoned.
