A modem/ Internet connection
You can go to a cyber café and do some online writing but in the long run, it will prove too expensive. As an online writer who is taking his or work seriously, you will need to invest in either a modem or any other internet connection gadget like Fibre optic cables, Zuku Reuters etc. Having unlimited internet in your house is not only convenient but it will also enable you to achieve a lot.
A Visa Card
Most writers who work online get their payments through PayPal. For you to have a PayPal account, you need to have an Equity Visa card. Recently, PayPal partnered with M-pesa to enable people to receive money to the M-pesa account directly. But to be on the safer side, you just need to register for PayPal using your Visa card.
Two sim cards
As a writer, especially those who are using a modem as their source of internet, having two sim cards is very essential. You do not want to be off the air all the time you are online. You might miss out on so many other great opportunities. You should register two sim cards so that you can use one on modem while the other remains on your phone.
A notebook and a pen
The fact that you have a laptop should not make you ignore a notebook. You still need a notebook to help you do your research. You also need a notebook where you can write down some E-mail contacts.
