Seven governors might be charged over graft following a recommendation by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
Speaking in Mombasa, EACC boss Harlaqe Wako said that county governments have emerged as the most corrupt institutions in the country.
Waqo however declined to name the governors during the opening session of a workshop on corruption in counties.
He said that two governors had already taken a plea over corruption while the Director of Public prosecutions had already been instructed to proceed and charge the remaining five.
Over the recent past, an alarm has been raised over rampant corruption in counties with the procurement department being the most affected.
