Miguna Miguna, a man giving the Kenyan Government sleepless nights has many things on his name. After being deported for swearing in NASA leader Raila Odinga as the People’s President, the former Nairobi gubernatorial candidate returned yesterday at 2.30pm, but his return was welcomed by several controversies. Well, here are five things that earned Miguna Miguna his popularity:
1. Student leader at the University of Nairobi. During his studies at Nairobi University, Miguna became a student leader at UoN from 1986-1987.
2. Expelled from UoN in 1987. Miguna was expelled from the University for championing multi-party democracy.
3. Several degrees from different universities. Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Toronto, Juris Doctor (JD) degree and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from The Osgoode Hall Law School of York University.
4. During former president Moi’s regime, Miguna was detained for his political activism.
5. Between 2006-2009, Miguna was in active politics as a senior adviser and chief strategist for Raila Odinga and his party ODM. More, he was a socio-political affairs and cultural commentator.
