Harambee Stars captain and Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama is a household name in the country and London as well.
The younger brother of the McDonald Mariga has grown by leaps and bounds over the last couple of years and has cemented his place as one of the best holding midfielders in the English Premier League.

1. Made his debut at the age of 15
Wanyama started playing at a young age, one of the reasons why his career has been going up gradually. His first national debut was at the age of 15 against a star-studded Nigerian side back in 2007.
2. He is the first East African to feature in two top leagues In Europe
Wanyama became the first Kenyan to play in Scotland and England; playing for Celtic before moving to Southampton.
3. He earns quite a fortune
Wanyama earns upwards of £ 70,000 weekly, which can translate to nearly KSh 1 million in a week.
4. He hails from Eastlands
This is where the name “Lion of Muthrwa” title from. One of Africa and Kenya’s most successful players of his time actually started out in extremely humble beginnings. Kamkunji High was the school.
5. Has already made history in Tottenham
As far as statistics go, Wanyama is already on the Tottenham record books. He scored the winner in a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace back In August 2016 to extend a personal record for the club.
He became the club’s 138th different goal scorer since the start of the Premier League era.
