Did you know that there are many musicians who were academic giants while in High School? Well, we have quite a good number of them who actually passed with flying colors, scoring straight A’s. Some of them joined universities and colleges where they attained degrees in different fields. Instead of looking for prestigious jobs, they opted for music, which seems to be paying them more than they even expected. Here are five musicians who scored A’s in High School:

1. Polycarp OtienoPolycarp aka Fancy Fingers is Sauti Sols guitarist and producer. Polycarp scored an A in high school and joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology. He graduated from the JKUAT University with a degree in Actuarial Science. He is believed to be the man behind the song, “Soma Kijana,” which encourages young people to venture into education.

2. Maureen KungaMaureen Kunga is one of the Elani band members. Just like her fellow Bryan Chweya, Maureen is also a lawyer. The high flying Afro pop band, Elani has helped her propel her dreams of being a musician. She scored a straight A in High School.

3. NamelessNameless is one of the greatest musicians in Kenya. He is a multiple-award-winning star. Nameless graduated from the University of Nairobi with a degree in architecture. He pride himself in being the architecture behind the Ksh.4 billion Hub Shopping Mall in Karen.

4. ArnelinaThe former Tusker Project Fame contestant schooled in the British International College in South Africa. Later on, she joined International Hotel School and studies Hospitality and Operation Management. She graduated in 2009.

5. Wangui NgugiShe is also a member of the Elani band. She studies Actuarial Science from the University of Nairobi. She admits to have never used her degree in any good way.
