Five Members of Parliament drawn from Nyamira County have vicious denied defrauding President Uhuru Kenyatta Sh500, 000 which were part of his Sh1.5 million donated to the familes of nine Narok accident victims.
On Thursday, MPs, Joash Nyamoko, Jerusha Momanyi, Ben Momanyi, Vincent Kemosi and senator Okong'o Mogeni delivered Sh1 million from the OP during the requiem mass of victims.
Bur allegations in social media that the MPs had received Sh1.5 million from OP raised heated online debate making a number of them to come out on the matter.
"It is funny that someone is saying that we received Sh1.5 million. The OP gave out Sh1 million and we presented it for the burial," said Mr Kemosi, the West Mugirango MP.
On his part, Nyamoko, the Jubilee MP for North Mugurango, linked the claims to local politics and vowed to take action against those involved.
"These is purely political witch hunt. We couldn't take money meant for burial especially the president's donation. These kind of politics must stop," he added.
In the allegations, the MPs are accused of using Sh0.4 million to hire a chopper and another Sh 100, 000 as their personal contributions.
Residents of the county have since taken to social media to ask the OP to prove the amount of money delivered for the funeral.
