A family in Nyatuoni, South Mugirango, Kisii county was on Tuesday morning treated to a rude shock upon the discovery of the dead body of their 9-year-old girl.
According to the parents, the standard 3 girls believed to have been gang-raped was last seen on Monday evening. She had been sent by her father to her aunt place for milk on Monday evening only to be found dead on Tuesday morning.
"The girl had sent for milk and had to wait for her until 6 pm before she came back. So had to call her aunt who told me she had already given her the milk," said Isaiah Nywangweso, father.
"They called me at around 7 asking me where the child was and I told them she had already left at around 5," confirmed Jane Kemunto, aunt to the deceased.
The following day, Tuesday morning, the family with the help of the villagers began the search of the young girl only to find the body of the child dumped in a bush.
According to a cousin, they managed the trace the body after they bumped on a note at Wetago junction giving directions on where the body was. Moreover, the note gave information on the suspects of the incident.
The irate villagers then began a search of the perpetrators. Fortunately, they managed to track down one suspect who was lynched. However, 4 suspects still remain at large.
"At the junction of Wetago we just found a letter dropped describing where the child is and the suspects who did those," said Benard Mokoro, a cousin.
Kisii County Commander, Abdi Hassan, confirmed the incident and said the investigation into the incident had been launched.
