Police have claimed that five people were on Friday killed by mobs while looting during the "unauthorised" processions called to welcome NASA leader Raila Odinga.
In a statement, police spokesperson George Kinoti said the five got stoned to death.
"We are however aware that sections of the mobs accompanying the NASA convoy, looted property and five persons were killed by stoning in different incidences," he said.
This is contrary to earlier reports by Reuters that two bodies had been found with bullet wounds sustained while police tried to disperse crowds that had come to welcome Raila back to Kenya.
In another case, police have denied that Raila's car was shot at in the protests.
"No live ammunition was used by any officer," Kinoti added.
