Like it or not, Uhuru Kenyatta has a herculean task ahead of him; securing a second term in office. His tenure has been dogged by so many accusations of grand corruption and mismanagement that he might need a miracle to clear his name.

First, President Kenyatta should dissolve the entire cabinet and sack all Principal Secretaries except a handful such as Dr Matiang’i and Amb. Amina Mohammed. This will get him into the good graces of the voters who are focused on performance.

The president must now constitute an election cabinet, fill it with regionally balanced faces, and by the time he finishes going for their homecoming parties the election will be decided in his favor.

Consequently, he should resolve the doctors’ strike. He should summon KMPDU officials and their entire governing council for a meeting at statehouse. He should invite an economist to explain the implications of the CBA and implement the increase by July.

The president should understand that in his wife, he has the greatest political asset. So, he should let the First Lady speak out against corruption and appeal for more accountability in his Government. The first lady has over a million votes drawn across the political divide for her personal effort as a first Lady.

Her reputation, demeanor and goodwill is marvelous and she can provide the 50 plus 1 magic number.

Uhuru should allow the Opposition to demonstrate, as long as it’s peaceful. This is because, nobody likes violent demonstrations. Thus by ensuring all demonstration are peaceful, they will lose meaning and the country’s economy will not suffer.

Lastly, the president should ally himself with Governor Isaac Ruto. This is because the DP has a myriad of unfavourable issues surrounding him and anyway, it wouldn't hurt to have two Ruto's in your corner, would it?
