1. She loves Nigeria movies
Whenever she is not on the track, Obiri watches Nigerian comedy movies. She does not love football and prefers watching basketball instead.
2. She was advised on the race to take
Noah Ngeny advised Obiri to run the 1500m and focus on the metric mile. In her debut season over the distance, she sensationally won the Kenyan title and qualified for the 2011 World Championships in Daegu.
3. She once finished in position 32
A corporal in the Kenyan Air Force, Obiri was told to compete at the 2010 Kenyan Armed Forces Cross Country Championships, and finish the race at all costs. The then sprinter finished 32nd, but she enjoyed the experience.
4. She was a sprinter!
At 14 years of age, Obiri was recruited as a 200m and 400m sprinter to attend school in Nairobi. However, she lost interest in the sport and stopped running altogether in 2006 and 2007 to focus on her studies.
5. She trains with guys
she loves training with guys at Ngong, which has an altitude of under 2000m. she normally training with two guys, one runs infront and the other at the back.
