Just how well do you know Chief Justice David Maraga? Where was he born and what faith does he practise?
1. Birth
Maraga was born on January 12, 1951 at Bonyamatuta village in Nyamira County and went to school at Sironga District Education Boards (DEB) Primary School at Bogichora in Nyamira County between 1961 and 1967. It was here that he was awarded his Certificate of Primary Education (CPE).
2. EducationHe proceeded for his O-level education at the East African School Certificate at Maranda High School in Siaya County later in 1968. In 1972, he joined Kisii High School for his East African Advanced Certificate.
3. Maraga is the President of the Supreme Court and is 14th Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya.
4. Terms in office
Maraga will serve only one term as the CJ. Why? Because of of the age limit of 70 years.
5. Religion and Work
He is a staunch Seventh Day Adventist. As such, he swore during the interviews for his position that he could never work on Saturdays because they are the Sabbath day.
