Dixon Kihika Kimani was one of the fearless politicians who served under the late President Jomo Kenyatta and former President Daniel Moi.
The veteran politician never shied to speak his mind. His aggressive and fearless nature earned him both friends and enemies in equal measure.
Here are five things that you probably didn't know;
1. Kihika Kimani lived a polygamous life.
At the time of his death in 2004, aged 74, he had married eight women and had 41 children.The eight were Nyambura Kihika , Lucy Wangari , Jane Wanjiru, Miriam Warau , Charity Nyambura, Margaret Wambui, Winnie Wanjeri and Alice Kihika.
2. Kihika was a political firebrand who earned himself a place in history as the only Kenyan to ever get elected MP for three different constituencies; Nakuru North, Laikipia West and Molo.
He served as MP for Nakuru North (1974-1979), Laikipia West (1992-1997) and Molo (1997-2002).
3. At one time Kihika pushed his six wives to vie for parliamentary seats in different constituencies.
4.The outspoken politician is remembered for championing the formation of joint land buying companies popularly known as “ngwataniro” which saw the birth of Jomo Kenyatta high school in Bahati among other institutions in Nakuru and Laikipia counties.
5.Kihika rose to national limelight after they formed forces with other Central Kenya politician who were against President Moi ascending to power after President Jomo Kenyatta's death.
