Your newborn baby is so vulnerable and depends fully on you for care. As a mum, you have the full responsibility to take care of your own baby so that they grow healthy and sharp. Here are 5 things you must do for your baby;
1. Give them attention
You must pay close attention to your baby. Hold, touch and bond with them as much as you can so that they grow well emotionally, physically and mentally. Make sure you maintain direct eye contact with them. Do not shake, spank or yell at them.
2. Take them for clinical care
Make sure you take your baby for pediatric care on regular schedules. Take them to clinic whenever they fall sick and don't rely on home remedies to treat them as this may fail and cause them harm.
3. Feed them
As a mother, you are responsible for your baby's meals. Do not feed your baby with whole cow's milk when they are still too young. Breast milk is the best at this time. Should it be less for them, follow your doctor's guide on alternative meals.
4. Hold them to sleep
Your baby has the right to fall asleep in your arms, if not then make them sleep lying next to them. It is healthy for your baby to fall asleep in your hands or next to you and the best of it is falling asleep while breastfeeding. According to livestrong.com, you should not let them sleep on their bellies to avoid Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).
5. Ensure their safety
You are responsible for your baby's safety. Do not lay them to sleep near the edge of the bed when you are not around them. If you have a small bed then you can heap pieces of cloth next to them to prevent them from rolling off the bed. Remove harmful products from their reach to avoid poisoning.
