Dr Joyce Laboso has come to the political limelight after she defeated former Governor Isaac Ruto during the August 8 elections. Laboso became one of the three women who won gubernatorial races.

1. Joyce Laboso was born in 25th November 1960 in Bomet County
2. She joined politics as her sister's successor. This is after former Sotik Member of Parliament Lorna Laboso lost her life in a plane crash on June 10 2010.
3. Before joining politics Dr Laboso was a French lecturer at Egerton University in the Language and Linguistics department.
4. She is married to a Luo, Edwin Abonyo,former manager with Finlays.
5. She is a mother to three sons. Firstborn son is in Australia, the second born is studying piloting in South Africa while last born completed his KCSE in 2016 at Kabarak High School.
