Here are five types of snacks or dishes that you have to try.

1) Biriani.

Biriani is a meal that consists of rice and meat or chicken sauce. The sauce is what makes the food tasty. It consists of various spices mixed together. Biriani is favourite to even the locals. It is mostly served on Friday specials. Pair it with a fruit blended juice for a more tantalizing taste.

2) Shawarma.

Some call shawarma a meal, others a snack. It resembles 'tacos' that we see in movies. Just like biriani, it comes in both chicken and beef flavour. This cuisine guarantees you an experience like no other.

3) Mahamri served with coconut cow peas or beans.

In the coastal region, this is usually served during breakfast. It can be accompanied with either black tea or milk tea. Just thinking about this meal makes me hungry.

4) Coconut rice with fish.

Its no secret that people from the lower region of Kenya like to mix it up in the kitchen. Coconut rice is prepared using 'tui la nazi' instead of normal water. When served with 'samaki wa nazi' it pairs well and give you a taste like no other.

5) Potatoes served with wheat porridge.

This cuisine is considered a snack that is mostly served in the evening (at around 4 o'clock) in the coast region. The wheat porridge famously known as 'uji wa ngano', is added coconut water to give it its original and unique taste. The potatoes are can be served with sauces such as 'ukwaju', cooked chilli or 'chatini'.
