The Maendeleo Chap Chap governor now eyes for presidency in the 2022 general election.

Mutua has rubbed shoulders with people considered as his political mentors among them former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

Here are five unbelievable facts you dint know about the flamboyant Machakos governor:

1. Raised and schooled in Kibera slums

Governor Mutua was born on August 22, 1970 in Masii, Machakos County.

He started school at Toi Primary School in Kibera slums and proceeded to Dagorreti High school for his O-Levels and Jamhuri High school for his A- levels.

2. Worked as a casual at ‘Mjengo’ [construction sites]  to pay fees

Governor Mutua in his biography confessed to having worked as a casual in various construction sites to pay for his O-level fees.

Mutua says he was several times chased from school for lacking school fees.

3. Director of ‘Cobra squad’ 

Governor Mutua also worked as a movie director and producer. 

He was the director of the ‘Cobra squad’ that aired on NTV in 2002. Mutua was also the producer of the ‘Beba Beba’ family show that used to air on NTV.

4. Brain behind the ‘Najivunia Kuwa Mkenya’ (I am proud to be a Kenyan) campaign

Governor Mutua was appointed as the government spokesperson in the grand coalition government under former President Mwai Kibaki and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

He initiated the ‘Najivunia kuwa mkenya’ campaign that encouraged Kenyans to show their patriotism.

5. Legal tussle over children

In 2014, Governor Mutua was involved in a legal tussle over custody of their children with his estranged wife Josephine Thitu Maundu.

The Machakos governor has maintained that he is fit to cussed president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
