5 vehicles and 2 motorbikes were nabbed on Thursday morning in Kamwangi town operating without licenses and carrying excess passengers in a traffic police crack down.

Following the arrest, the area deputy traffic commander Moses Mwau has directed a one day inspection for the vehicles operating in the area to cross check their eligibility on public roads.

Speaking after the arrest, Mwau noted that many of the conductors were operating without uniforms which he said is illegal according to road set rules.

"We have impounded 5 vehicles this morning; 2 personal cars, a public service vehicle plus 2 motorbikes which were operating without licenses and carried excess passengers. I am directing all vehicles operating in Kamwangi and its environs to appear for an inspection exercise on the 7th December 2015 at Kamwangi traffic head offices," he said.

Mwau noted that his department is partnering with the administration police in the area to avert accident occurrences in the area especially during the upcoming festive season.

"We will partner with the local administration to ensure that security and accidents in this area are averted. Passengers should also desist from boarding filled vehicles because if you are found as an excess passenger, you will also be arrested," he announced.
