In a statement by KenGen on Tuesday, the company alerted communities living downstream of Kiambere, especially the low lying areas of Garissa and Garsen, to take precautionary measures since it was not possible to ascertain the situation of inflows of rivers downstream.
It was observed that the heavy rainfalls over the last four days had culminated in the filling up of all the reservoirs in the flow, read part of the statement by Francis Kawa, the company’s operation manager, eastern hydros.
