Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has revealed 5 strategies that could force Cord leader Raila Odinga to retire from active politics.
In an opinion piece, he published. Ngunyi unveiled that the only way to force Raila out was through his 5- point thesis since the Cord leader has shown the lack of willingness to retire.
Ngunyi said the first step to deal with Raila is to inflate his sense of self-worth with platitudes to blind him with self-importance.
In his analysis, Ngunyi said if Raila is showered with flatteries he would fail to perceive the reality and consequently hit a dead-end.
“When he starts to believe in them, then he becomes flattered and then he is unable to deal with danger and defeat,” Ngunyi said.
“Because if he has been told that he is Raila baba, Raila mwana, Raila roho mtakatifu, how can he be defeated, how can he lose an election?” he questioned.
Secondly, Ngunyi proposed a policy drawn from the Book of Fire which states that "Increase Raila's appetite for painful sacrifices."
Ngunyi said the fire that Raila has in ensuring certain public officers are evicted from office will finally die down if his appetite to do so is fulfilled and constantly increased.
The third strategy is to Blindside Raila with rented loyalty. This is by making the Cord leader think he has power and authority that is non-existent.
This strategy, Ngunyi said can be realised by politicians giving him support for a specified period of time to trick him that they are on his side.
“Because of the support he has, Raila has begun to imagine himself as the President and has also begun acting as President. And if he would be forced into early retirement it is because of that particular delusion,” Ngunyi stated.
The political analyst stated that the fourth strategy would be to delude Odinga with the idea of power.
Here Ngunyi pointed that by constantly referring to Raila as Prime Minister, a non-existent post would quench his thirst for power.
Last but not the least, Ngunyi who is an ardent critic of Raila recommended a 'Cook him slowly' approach. In this premise Ngunyi said since Raila would not retire, he needed to be retired slowly but surely.
“Speed in war is not a virtue at all and that is the reason why we must not be too quick to attempt to retire Raila like the opinion poll told us,” Ngunyi said.
