The National Environment Management Authority has continued with its crackdown on suppliers and users of plastic carrier bags which it started yesterday.According to officials of the authority, about 50 people have been arrested and will be charged with violating the ban on plastic carrier bags.''We have noticed that the plastic carrier bags are being used to wrap tomatoes and sukuma wiki. We are also aware that there are tricks that are being used to hide the bags and we are very vigilant now,'' a NEMA official said during an operation in Nairobi.Kenya embraced the ban on plastic carrier bags last year as a measure aimed at protecting an conserving the environment.
