Body of a 50-year-old man has been retrieved in Mwala, Machakos County.
The body belonging to Peter Kaloki Matata was retrieved from Kwaa Ndoo River in Mbiuni on Tuesday.
The deceased had reportedly gone missing since Sunday, his body was discovered by locals who had gone to fetch water from the river.
Matata's family members, relatives, friends and neigbors had searched for him in vain until the lifeless body was found on the river banks.
Confirming the incident, Mwala chief Ancent Matheka said officers from Mbiuni Police Station removed the body from the scene to Matuu Mediance Mortuary
Matheka warned drunkards from the region to ensure they return home earlier more so if they have to cross rivers on way to their residences to avoid drowning.
He said most rivers had swollen due to heavy rains pondering the region hence drunkards will not be able to swim in case they fall into the razing waters.
"We must all exercise extra caution during this rainy season, drinking isn't bad but ensure you go home early," Matheka said.
