The notice was issued on 17th of February  by the County officers from the physical department and was signed by the Thika sub county adminstrator Rose Kimani  will expire on Monday.

Speaking to the press yesterday afternoon, the Kiambu County Public Service Chief Officer Dominic Gicheru told the press that only the kiosks that are built illegally will be demolished.

"I want to make this clear, we are not demolishing all the kiosks in Thika town, we are only going to demolish kiosks which are built illegally within the town. All the kiosks which obstructs the police and ambulances  and even the fire brigades will also be demolished", Gicheru said.

Area MCA Elizabeth Muthoni had earlier said that the kiosks are not illegaly built since they all pay their levies to the county.

"It is the county government that is illegally collecting levies from the owners of the kiosks. The county government should look for another alternative apart from demolishing the kiosks", Ellizabeth said.

Jane Njeri who is an operator of a kiosk said that she was not going to wait for the demolition. "Its better i rescue the small that i have than wait for the county officers to come with their buldozzers and demolish it. I have decided to vacate", Njeri said.

She went ahead and promised all the kiosk operators that she will fight the matter to the court. "It is very inhuman to destroy what a person has built so as to earn a living", Elizabeth said.
