Police in Meru county have launched a search for s woman who mysteriously went missing on Thursday, while reportedly coming from work.
Anne Kathure, a bar waitress, didn't return home after ending her shift at 11pm, but the clothes she was wearing would later be found outside the gate of the premises she lives.
Her husband Nicholas Murimi said that her clothing, including her brassiere and shoes were found dumped outside the gate, adding that attempts to reach her on phone were futile.
Attempts to known her whereabouts from her colleagues at the Office Inn bar in Githimbine were also futile, which drove the father of one into reporting the incident to the police.
“I was worried when she did not turn up and her phone was switched off. None of her colleagues would tell me anything concrete about what time she had left the club,” he said on Sunday.
Police details indicate that the women left her job at 12.30 pm, but it is confusing is that she had switched off her phone about an hour earlier, at 10.54, some one kilometer away from the bar.
North Imenti Head of Criminal Investigations James Githinji said that his office had since taken over the issue, urging family members to accord his officers the support they need.
“This matter was initially under the OCS and we just took over on Saturday and we have detectives involved,” the police boss told the Standard on Sunday.
Kathure had only worked at the bar for 2 months.
