A Molo court was in disbelief on Wednesday after a middle-aged man admitted before the court that he sexually assaulted his sister.
Wesley Langat was being accused of defiling his six-year-old sister, a crime that he committed on diverse dates in September this year at Bararget village in Kuresoi South, Nakuru County.
Citizen Digital reports that a neighbour on September 21 this year, noticed that the minor was not playing well with other children and upon inquiring, the girl revealed what was happening behind closed doors.
The court heard that the girl told the neighbour that his elder brother had been sexually assaulting her at their father’s house when they are alone and threatens her with dire consequences should she speak out.
The neighbour then reported the matter to a Nyumba Kumi officials before the matter was reported to the police.
Langat was later arrested and taken to court and the minor was taken to a health facility for medical examination.
He was facing charges of sexually assaulting the minor and a second count of committing an indecent act with a child.
The accused admitted to the charges before Molo Resident Magistrate Emmanuel Soita but pleaded for leniency claiming that he was drunk when he defiled his sister.
Despite the warning by the magistrate that the charges he is facing carry a life sentence, Langat who appeared less bothered admitted to the charges.
Magistrate Soita found the accused guilty of the charges and sentenced him to serve life in prison.
The accused was given 14 days to appeal.
