Keroka OCPD Walter Abondo told Hivisasa on Wednesday evening that brewers have increased in the area.

"Esani is notorious. Brewers have taken root with a number of them setting up large brewing stations. We will arrest them tirelessly and take them to court as per the law," said Abondo.

"We are not relenting on this. It's destroying school-going children. We will arrest them even if it means the whole village until we clear chang'aa in the area. The crackdown is ongoing, and we call upon chiefs to come on board," noted Abondo.

This becomes the second case after chiefs succeeded to destroy over 4,500 litres of the illicit liquor in Boronyi on Wednesday.

Kisii County Police Commander Martin Kibet has instructed the chiefs to initiate a crackdown across the county to fish out the brewers.

"I am calling upon all chiefs to make sure there is no illicit brewing in their areas. Let them be vigilant. If we receive any report of chiefs who are taking bribes from them to allow them to destroy our society will be dealt with accordingly," he added.
