Authorities and villagers of Nyawita village in Bondo sub county, Siaya county , are still searching for the body of a man who allegedly committed suicide in River Yala on Sunday.
The man, whose identity is not yet known, was reportedly seen jumping into the river on Sunday evening, and is suspected to have drowned afterwards.
The incident was confirmed by Nyawita Assistant Chief Ayub Ogolla, who said that the issue was immediately reported to the police.
The administrator who was also notified of the same says that he responded immediately in an attempt to recover the body.
The chief said that he immediately mobilized people to help in the search, which have been futile so far, reports the Citizen Digital.
The administrator noted that searches on Sunday and Monday bore no fruits.
People who spotted the man said that he took off his shoes once next to the river, and looking disturbed, he jumped in, but no one has since come out to admit knowing him or being his kin.
The administrator now wants people related to the man or those aware of his identity to come reach out to him, considering that only his shoes were found by the river.
