Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino has said that Jubilee stands no chance of winning in the Kibra by-election.
The lawmaker also asked ODM leader Raila Odinga to be careful with his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In a post on his Facebook page Wednesday, Babu said that the endorsement of MacDonald Mariga for the Kibra by-election, Uhuru is sending a strong message that anything can happen.
The lawmaker advised the African Union Special Envoy to retrace his footsteps lest he finds himself sidelined. He said that he is ready to stand with Raila under all circumstances.
“Baba must be very careful with this thing called *HANDSHAKE* No fruits so far. We can’t be duped twice. President Uhuru must be genuine with this handshake. Baba we must be very careful and if the *marriage*is void coz (sic) one party is incompetent for being in a subsisting marriage or voidable coz it’s not consummated then we must be out very fast."
"We need not lie to each other and in return their intention is to embarrass you. Jubilee must never and will never win kibra. I’m ready to go back to the bush,” he said.
Uhuru hosted Mariga at State House Nairobi. Moments after the meeting, Uhuru said that he is fully behind his candidature as he takes on ODM’s Imran Okoth and ANC candidate Eliud Owalo.
"The President wished Mr Mariga, who was accompanied by Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju, success in the contest and assured him of his full backing,” State House confirmed.
Mariga had earlier on be branded a DP William Ruto's project before Uhuru's endorsement. The backing from the president is a major boost to the former footballer as he seeks to clinch the seat.
