City lawyer Steve Ogolla has opined that Deputy President (DP) William Ruto will make a very dangerous Head of State.
This is after Ruto launched a scathing attack on ODM leader Raila Odinga for allegedly opposing government projects meant to transform lives of poor Kenyans.
Speaking in Nyamira County on Monday, the Jubilee deputy party leader referred to Raila as the 'Lord of poverty' for being against programmes such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and Euro Bond, which he said were all meant to uplift citizens from abject poverty.
“You’re opposed to any development in our nation because you believe this country should be poor so that people can continue to support you, and I am telling you we will work night and day to eliminate poverty in this nation so that your kingdom of poverty has no place in Kenya," he said during a women’s empowerment forum in Ekerenyo.
Reacting to the remarks, Ogolla said Ruto's sentiments were likely to divide Kenyans, and it was unfortunate they came from a person who holds the office of DP.
In a tweet on Tuesday, the lawyer said Ruto was 'obsessed' with taking over power from President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022, and opined he will violently subdue his critics if elected Kenya's fifth president.
"DP Ruto is a desperate and dangerous politician. He has no respect for his office and is infinitely obsessed with being President that he forgets he's a State Officer with the duty to unite the country. If President, he'd abandon the Oath of Office and be obsessed with crushing critics," Ogolla posted.
