Thirdway Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot has faulted his rivals for frustrating his push for a referendum.
In a tweet, Aukot claimed that his rivals have been bribing Members of the County Assembly with the aim of ensuring they shoot down the Punguza Mizigo Bill.
Ekuru divulged that those who want to bring him down are in for a rude shock. He also said that the politicians opposed to his proposals are using underhand tactics to ensure they fall.
"We are determined more than before. It's not the #PunguzaMizigoBill2019 they're rejecting. Its dirty money doing the rounds and being used on vulnerable souls without the determination to do the right thing for their electorate," he said.
The remarks moments after the Kiambu County Assembly rejected the same proposal. The MCAs said that the proposals are baseless and ill-timed. They argued that the reduction of legislative seats is not good news to big regions.
Kirinyanga Governor Anne Waiguru celebrated after the Kiambu County Assembly rejected Aukot's bill. She divulged that she only supports the handshake.
“Kirinyaga, Muranga, and now Kiambu. Well in!! Mt. Kenya tuko chonjo. Twendele hivyo hivyo. Firmly behind H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta and his agenda for a peaceful and cohesive nation,” she tweeted.
