Gem Member of Parliament Elisha Odhiambo has congratulated the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Elections Board (NEB) for pulling off the Kibra nomination exercise smoothly.
In a tweet on Sunday, the ODM legislator said that the party had proved naysayers wrong.
He contended that through the Kibra nomination exercise ODM had shown that it was the best in East and Central Africa.
Imran Okoth, the brother of the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, was declared the winner of the nomination exercise.
"Our party has proved beyond the expectations of naysayers and negative spin masters that we are leading the best, in practice of democracy in East and Central Africa. Congratulations to next Kibra MP Imran Okoth for winning @TheODMparty nomination. Thumbs up to NEB for a good job, " the MP's tweet read.
Even though the nomination exercise was, by and large, conducted smoothly, it was not without complaints.
Brian Shem Owino, one of the aspirants, claimed that names and scores of eligible voters were missing
The party said that only those who were genuine card-carrying members of the party were allowed to vote.
Imran Okoth will now fly the flag of the ODM party in the by-election slated for November.
He will slug it out against governing Jubilee party's McDonald Mariga, a former Harambee Stars player, and Amani National Congress (ANC) candidate Eliud Owalo, a former aide of Raila Odinga.
