The firms have already agreed to pay the set taxes to allow them to remain operational after the government embarked on a crackdown of all companies operating illegally in the country.

The 10 firms will be given back their licenses after the government revoked them together with those of 17 others. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has already cleared the firms to resume operations.

The firms whose licenses will be reactivated are Bet boss, Kick off, Betway, Easi bet, Palms bet, Lucky to you, Mozolt Bet, Odi bet, Ken bookmakers and Eastleigh bet.

While issuing the directive of withdrawal of the firms' licenses, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiangi said that the government will not allow investors who keep on flouting the law to operate.

However, giant firms such as SportPesa and Betin are yet to meet the requirements of the Betting Control Board even after they resolved to seek legal redress after their pay bill numbers were blocked.

The government had declared to deport all managers and owners of firms which have not complied with the betting regulations before the new development.

Sportpesa and other betting firms have assured their customers that they will start operating soon.
