Having tried a couple times to win West Mugirango seat, the former KTDA director would have his patience paid in 2013 and 2017 when he was elected a governor.

But throughout his regime, the governor has been battling rampant corruption, nepotism, incompetence and maladministration which have almost grounded the county operations.

Recently, the governor admitted skewed employment in the county and ended up allegedly sending over 1000 workers home. However, until now, official list of those affected is yet to be released.

"There is no turning back. I will continue bringing sanity to the county. Our wage bill has escalated and those responsible, will face the consequences," he said, even with the fact that nothing is yet to happen.

Several petitions have been launched against him, with the latest coming from one Reuben Kibegwa, who sanctioned the Senate and investigative agencies to deal with the governor.

In the petition, Mr Kibegwa mentioned the multimillion flowerbeds, AI services, fish ponds, subsidized fertilizers, University of Nyamira, Manga stadium, among others as basis of investigations.

"Besides irregular tendering, we have several projects he started but until now, there is no progress. We have tipped EACC among others agencies but nothing is yet to happen," he said.

In some quarters, the governor has been accused of employing relatives, with almost half of the cabinet being his kin. He has often defended the move saying 'where do you want them employed?'

Despite many complaints from members of the public, DCI and DPP are yet to ransack the county and establish the claims. The governor has largely survived unlike his comrades.

"We have done correspondences and even the governor has admitted skewed employment cases. However, investigative agencies have remained mum," said Dennis Marube, ODM Youth Leader.

On Audit report, the governor has often come under spot, with several departments yet to explain anomalies in the budget given by public coffers.

Senator Okong'o Mogeni, a lawyer by profession, has often promised to hold the county accountable. Sadly, despite his frequent threats in public rallies, he has also gone silent.
