A row is in the making between Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the Amani National Congress (ANC) ahead of the 2022 general elections.

This is after ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said that the party won't take part in any discussion to front ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi as a presidential aspirant in the 2022 polls.

This follows claims that some top political players might settle in the former Deputy Prime Minister as the "compromise presidential aspirant" in the much-awaited polls.

Sifuna now says that Mudavadi had always been hanging around for such opportunities, terming it his only claim to the presidency and not what he can do for Kenyans.

“Talk of Mr Mudavadi being a compromise candidate or 'safe pair of hands' has always originated from ANC. It is and has remained his only claim to the presidency. He defines himself relative to others, not by what he would do for the country,” he told the Nation on Monday.

However, the remarks have been criticized by Mudavadi's ally and Private Secretary Kibisu Kabatesi, who has warned the youthful politician against making reckless remarks.

Kabatesi has accused Sifuna of being nagging, cautioning him against making unsubstantiated claims, and further bashing him for engaging in juvenile politicking.

“I advise him to tread carefully in matters where even political angels don't dare. He has no idea what the big boys are up to. Let him not bring political juvenile delinquency on the high table. He's isn't invited," he said.

The ODM-ANC fight began after Mudavadi skipped Raila Odinga's mock presidential coronation on January 30, 2018.

This was after their National Super Alliance (NASA) lost to President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party in the 2017 presidential race.
