Addressing the media on Tuesday, KNUT Secertary-General Wilson Sossion said the meeting will help settle pending issues before schools reopen in January, 2020.

Sossion said their demand for a meeting is anchored on a court ruling, that urged TSC to facilitate the same.

“We want the meeting to be called before Christmas in order to iron out industrial relations matters in readiness for a peaceful 2020,” Sossion said as quoted by Nation.

Sossion decried lack of enough funds at the union, adding that TSC should reinstate teachers fired for engaging in mass action.

He noted that since a number of teachers had been removed from the payroll, the union is unable to raise enough money, as it heavily relies on members contributions.

"We urge TSC to reinstate the more than 80,000 teachers who were removed from the Knut roll. Failure to deduct dues has crippled operations in the union," he said.

TSC and KNUT have been engaged in court battles for the better part of 2019.
