ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga has been asked to intervene into the differences between the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) officials.

A team from both side has intervened into stalemate after the efforts to resolve the same proved futile. 

The team, which comprises of Six officials branch executives, branch chairman from Nyanza region and four national executive council members held a meeting with the opposition leader at his Capitol Hill Square offices in a bid to resolved the standoff, which has affected the education sector in the recent past. 

The delegation, which was led by Rachuonyo Branch executive secretary Eliud Ombori raised concern over the differences between the two groups.

In a statement, Mr Odinga spokesman Dennis Onyango said that the meeting was fruitful.Mr Odinga asked KNUT to consider dialogue in a bid to resolve the differences.

“I appeal to the union to end internal wrangles and focus on serving members,” said Mr Odinga, as quoted by Daily Nation. 

The wrangles started after the efforts to remove KNUT boss Wilson Sossion from office failed to bear fruits in the long run. Sossion has remained adamant amid pressure to have him resign from the position. 

The row between the two bodies has affected the education sector in different ways.
