A source who was quoted by K24 on condition of anonymity revealed that the CS felt abandoned by his seniors who stopped responding to his messages.

"He must have been aware that something bad was coming up because he told us that his seniors had stopped responding to his text messages after the saga of the dams broke out, " the source was quoted.

Before the dams scandal broke out, the source said, messages from the CS to his seniors were answered without delay.

The source further noted that Rotich felt that he had been 'thrown under the bus'.

The revelations come in the wake of the arrest of the CS over the Kimwarer and Arror dam scandal in which billions of shillings are said to have been lost.

His arrest came on the heels of an order issued by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Hajji who accused the CS and his co-accused of violating procurement regulations and engaging in projects without prior planning.

Rotich will be arraigned in court on Tuesday to face the charges outlined in the DPP's indictment.

Deputy President William Ruto-backing allies have been up in arms against the high profile arrest, branding it politically instigated with Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen disparaging it as 'a charade'.
