Former Nyeri Senator Mutahi Kagwe has defended Chief Justice David Maraga following his public outburst.
Speaking during an interview on KTN on Wednesday, Kagwe said that Maraga was justified to throw tantrums after it emerged that there were plans to cut the budget of the judiciary.
He noted that the judiciary plays a critical role in the government and must be funded by all means.
The former legislator divulged that the failure of the government to fund the judiciary will be the beginning of more trouble. He reiterated that other arms of the government should be ready to back Maraga to ensure he achieves his objectives.
"The Judiciary must be completely funded. Maraga is not crying wolf, there is something that has to be looked at @TonyGachoka," he said.
Kagwe also warned leaders close to the president against abuse of power. He said that it is unfortunate that there are leaders who want to blackmail the president by engaging in acts of corruption at the expense of the taxpayer.
"Abuse of power comes in many forms. If you are known to be close to the President and you are threatening another arm of the government, that is a mistake. It is a serious issue @TonyGachoka," he added.
